Juliette loves Nate.

She will follow him anywhere. She’s even become a flight attendant for his airline so she can keep a closer eye on him.

They are meant to be.

The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing. Because Juliette has a plan to win him back.

She is the perfect girlfriend. And she’ll make sure no one stops her from getting exactly what she wants.

True love hurts, but Juliette knows it’s worth all the pain...

Do you like a story with an unreliable narrator who’s almost certainly a sociopath? Then The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton is for you.

Elizabeth (Lily) has had her heart broken by commercial airline pilot Nate. The relationship was too much too soon for him, so he needs space. Lily is devastated, but she’s also determined to get him back. Newly christened Juliette (with a new dye job for good measure), she gets a job as a flight attendant on Nate’s airline—just to keep an eye on him and ease the transition into their eventual reunion.

There’s no length Juliette won’t go to in order to win back the man she’s meant to be with. I’ll give her this: she’s certainly resourceful. As much of a sick person as she is, I found myself almost admiring her tenacity and resilience. (Not sure what that says about me.)

There’s a nice twist to the story that I probably should have seen coming but didn’t, which made the story even more satisfying. Be warned, though, that the cast of characters is loaded with pretty unlikable people, so it’s tough to feel sympathy for anyone involved.

Although I thought that the ending could have been stronger, I still enjoyed this disturbing tale of tainted love.
